Below is a list of the many frequently asked questions that the State Office is called upon to answer.  They are in no particular order; some are from Managers and Coaches while others are from Parents.  If you have a USSSA related question, please email Florida Travel Ball.

1) HOW DO I REGISTER A TEAM?

The easiest way to register a team with USSSA is by using the Getting Started page on this web site.  All registration questions are covered.  Teams must register every season and the season runs from August 1st – July 31st. (create link to Getting Started page)

2) HOW DO I DETERMINE THE LEGAL PLAYING AGE OF A PLAYER?

The age cut-off date is May 1st of the current season.  Whatever age a player is on May 1st of that season is his / her playing age for the season.  To simplify, use the USSSA Age Calculator.

3) HOW CAN I FIND A TEAM'S RANKING POINTS?

USSSA has a National website, USSSA.com on which USSSA keeps track of the results, scores, and ranking points for every sanctioned event.  The web site contains a wealth of information for the teams and fans.  Spend some time exploring it.

4) WHAT IF RANKING POINTS ARE WRONG?

If a mistake has been made, it will be corrected.  Email any suspected mistakes to Florida Travel Ball for review.  Please include the Tournament ID # and correct information.  If the mistake is from an out of state tournament, you'll have to contact the host state's State Director.

5) HOW LONG IS TEAM INSURANCE GOOD?

USSSA Team Insurance can be purchased for the spring / summer season (January 1 - July 31) or the fall / winter season (August 1 - December 31).  USSSA Team Insurance will cover a team anywhere they play.  To learn more about USSSA Team Insurance, click here.

6) WHEN IS A PLAYER FROZEN TO A TEAM'S ROSTER?

Players are "frozen" to a team once they participate with a team that either has previously won a berth or wins a berth.  Teams win berths by finishing high enough in the final standings at USSSA tournament and in USSSA leagues.  If you are not sure about a team being frozen, ask the team manager.

7) AN A FROZEN PLAYER STILL PLAY UP IN AGE WITH ANOTHER TEAM?

Yes, a player can be frozen to multiple rosters as long as they are not in the same age division.  However, a player can never play with two teams in the same tournament and must not play on any team classified lower than the classification of the oldest team the player is on.

8) DOES A TEAM HAVE TO WIN A BERTH TO PLAY IN THE WORLD SERIES?

Teams will need to win a berth to participate in a USSSA World Series and all World Series berths must be validated by playing in the Sub State / State Championship.

9) DOES A TEAM HAVE TO WIN A BERTH TO PLAY IN THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP?

Yes and No; it depends on the team's age and classification.  If the team is classified as a Major Division team, the answer is YES.  Major Division teams MUST participate in a sub state tournament in order to qualify for state.  If the team is classified as A, AA, or AAA or is a Scholastic (Summer High School) type team the answer is NO.  For details check out the Sub State Tournaments page.

10) CAN A PLAYER PLAY WITH A MAJOR AND AAA TEAM IN THE SAME AGE DIVISION?

No, a player can only legally be on one roster in an age division.

11) WHAT ARE USSSA POINTS USED FOR?

All Florida USSSA Baseball Qualifying Tournaments, NIT, Super NIT, Sub States and State Championships as well as USSSA World Series pools are seeded according to your USSSA Points.  Every effort should be made to get the maximum number of points before the State Championship Tournament and World Series by playing in as many USSSA tournaments as possible; it will improve your pool play seeding.  Also, NIT, Super NIT and State Championship Tournaments are worth extra points.  USSSA sanctioned leagues also offer points.

12) WHY IS USSSA PUSHING THE ON-LINE ROSTER ISSUE?

On-Line Rosters require teams to be a "TEAM", a group of players that practice together and play together over the course of a season.  Not a collection of players with 2 or 3 different ringers (studs) added each weekend for the sole purpose of winning a tournament.  The on-line roster requires players to be bound to one team per age division.
